Her animals were a big part of her personal life and they will be tended to by Joan's longtime assistant, Jocelyn Pickett.

A family friend told the periodical, "Those dogs are her family. They meant the world to her and Joan wanted to make sure that if anything happened to her that they would be taken care of."

Joan also had a sizable East Coast real estate portfolio that her daughter is selling off. The homes include a $35 million apartment off Fifth Avenue as well as a smaller unit in the same building. She also has a Connecticut vacation home.

Melissa plans to sell all of her mother's houses because she is based on the West Coast.

The source continued, "Melissa is based in LA and has no need for a place in New York anymore. It's also too painful; Joan loved the city so much. Melissa is a West Coast girl and Cooper is in school in LA, while her mom was East Coast-based. Additionally, Melissa is planning to sell Joan's amazing home in Connecticut."

E! will also be honoring the legend on Friday with a 12-hour marathon running back-to-back episodes of Fashion Police, followed by a 90-minute tribute to Joan with Melissa, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos.
